Background

This study examines the effectiveness of The Faithful House (TFH), a 5-day faith-based skills-building curriculum in Tanzania.

The curriculum aims to increase household resilience by strengthening families and couples’ relationships through enhanced couple communication.  TFH draws on the individual’s faith-values as a catalyst for transformative gender interactions.  This program is designed to improve communication between partners in areas such as finance, gender roles, power imbalances, sexual intimacy, and parenting and communication with their children. This evaluation will further assess the impact of the intervention to reduce the level of exposure to intimate partner violence (IPV) and direct physical violence inflicted by parents.
